Unfinished properties in Greenville’s Forest View development were hot commodities at Tuesday’s annual Montcalm County no minimum bid foreclosure auction. Aaron Koehn spent a total of $65,250 on four unfinished townhouses — an average of $16,312.50 each. The four townhouses had conditionally sold just moments before — three for $13,250 each and one for $10,000 — but bidders were then given the option to purchase all four as a package deal. Koehn also purchased an empty parcel in the same development for $2,600. “We’re going to turn them into livable residences,” Koehn said. “We’re going to finish what was started.”
A Grand Rapids man may have almost gotten away with stealing a car in Greenville — but he decided to stop for lunch first. The Greenville Department of Public Safety responded to a stolen vehicle report at 1:10 p.m. Friday in the parking lot of Arby’s on Washington Street (M-57) on the west side of Greenville.

Administrators and staff from schools throughout the area met Monday evening at Lakeview High School to discuss technology and its roll in education. Nine schools were represented, including Montcalm Community College, the Montcalm Area Intermediate School District, Carson City-Crystal, Central Montcalm, Greenville, Lakeview, Montabella, Tri County and Vestaburg. Officials from each district were given 10 minutes to talk about their own technology programs.

The Carson City-Crystal volleyball team used an all-around solid effort to remain undefeated in league play. The Eagles (13-5-8, 3-0) cruised to a 25-11, 25-12, 25-17 Mid-State Athletic Conference win over rival Montabella on Tuesday night at home. They remain perfect in the MSAC more than halfway through league play.

A four-month summer hiatus of monthly legislative luncheon meetings came to an end Monday as many curious minds gathered at Montcalm Community College to listen to what local legislators have been up to since last informing the public in May. Sen. Judy Emmons, R-Sheridan, and Rep. Rick Outman, R-Six Lakes, took some time to update a crowd of more than 30 people on recent endeavors in Lansing, providing details on bills and other information relevant to District 70.
