A local 4-H group, Country Cruisers, volunteered their time at the Montcalm Animal Shelter and plan to do so again in the future. On April 5, the Country Cruisers went to the shelter bearing homemade gifts and treats for the animals.

More than 100 firefighters, emergency and law enforcement officials and school bus drivers stood in the rain for an hour Monday morning to stage a massive mock disaster involving two cars and a school bus. The Montcalm Area Intermediate School District (MAISD) asked Montcalm County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to help them create a disaster training session for school bus drivers. The event took place in the parking lot of Montcalm Township Hall.

A Greenville man was arrested Sunday after allegedly breaking into and stealing from 11 vehicles and four buildings, plus stealing two vehicles. Jacob Ross, 34, has been arraigned in 64B District Court in Stanton and is currently lodged in the Montcalm County Jail in Stanton.

A 20-month-old boy was found unresponsive in a pond Saturday and is currently listed in serious condition. Michigan State Police Lakeview Post Trooper Patrick Agema responded to the 9100 block of Tessie Court in Bushnell Township.
