Tri County Marching Band competes at Finals for 1st time (PHOTOS)

Standing together in the giant confines of Ford Field, performing for the final time after a long and enduring season, members of the Tri County Marching Band took one last collective breath. There would be no do-over, no second chance, as for the first time in school history, the band was performing at the Michigan Competing Band Association (MCBA) State Finals.

Firefighters battle 5-hour blaze in Pierson (Video and Photos)

Multiple fire departments battled a blaze for at least five hours this morning in downtown Pierson. Randy and Denise Granger’s home at 321 Amy School Road just off Federal and Stanton roads was left in shambles after a fire raged through the 22-room old farmhouse.

Bill Fifield criticized a Pierson Village Council member on Tuesday night for previously walking out in the middle of a meeting. Minutes later, Fifield did that very thing. A two-and-a-half-hour village council meeting slowly unfolded Tuesday night, full of long pauses, passive-aggressive arguing and flat-out shouting.

A condemned property failed to sell at the annual Montcalm County minimum bid land auction in September. The foreclosed building at 102 E. Elm St. in downtown Carson City was listed at $16,158.11 last month.
