Greenville swept by Rockford: The Yellow Jackets fell in both games of a doubleheader to the Rockford Rams on Monday night. Rockford won game one 12-6. Lizzy Niemiec and Nikota Howe each had three hits for the Yellow Jackets to lead the way. Beth Gantz, Alyssa Canterbury and Sarah Newhouse added two hits each. Lexii Canterbury took the loss, allowing four earned runs and eight hits with five strikeouts in seven innings. Game two was won by the Rams 10-0 in six innings. Howe had the lone Greenville hit while Alyssa Canterbury took the loss. Quote: “I thought Lexii battled through some adversity and pitched well in game one. Unfortunately, we committed nine errors behind her.” — Greenville coach Tom Hallock. Record: 3-6. Next games: at home Thursday against East Grand Rapids.
