Central Montcalm splits: The Hornets defeated White Cloud in game one 5-4 and lost in game two 9-3. Austin Edwards took the loss in game one. Hunter Myers and Edwards had three hits apiece. Oryan Wetherington, Micah Parr and Forrest Bartz each had two hits. The Hornets won the game with four straight hits in the bottom of the seventh inning. Wetherington took the loss in game two. Myers, Bartz and Will Plavin each had one hit. Tyler Peterman and Plavin each had three stolen bases. Next: at home Friday against Greenville.
Tri County swept by Orchard View: The Vikings lost both Lakes 8 games to the Cardinals 5-3 and 9-3 on Tuesday. The Cardinals scored three times — all unearned — in the seventh inning to break a 2-2 tie. Brandon Peterman suffered the loss in seven innings. Cody Mitz had two hits and Devin Longoria had two RBIs. Cody Dines was the losing pitcher in game two. He allowed six runs, four earned in 2 2/3 innings. Mitz had a hit and RBI while Longoria added an RBI. The Vikings stranded 18 runners in scoring position between the two games. Records: 9-9 (5-3). Greenville wins twice: The Yellow Jackets no-hit the Creston Polar Bears in both games of a doubleheader on Tuesday, winning 17-0 and 18-0. Alyssa Canterbury earned the win in game one and Lexii Canterbury in game two. In game one, Lizzy Niemiec and Alyssa Canterbury each had two hits. Niemiec had four RBIs. Harleigh Lewis had one hit and two RBIs. In game two, Nikota Howe went 3-for-3 with four RBIs and Niemiec added two hits and two RBIs. The Yellow Jackets were walked 25 times in two games. Lakeview splits with Hesperia: The Wildcats bounced back with a 9-2 win in game two on Tuesday at home. Erin Vanderzand earned the win in seven innings of work. She allowed seven hits with six strikeouts. Vanderzand, Chelsea Lint, Keelie Outman and Liz Nielsen each had two hits. Game one went to Hesperia 12-7. The Panthers outscored the Wildcats 7-1 in the final four innings. Estelle Molitor went 3-for-4 while Sadie Massie and a hit and RBI. Outman hit a home run in game one. Massie took the loss, allowing 12 runs on hits with four strikeouts. Records: 9-6 (6-4). Next: vs. Grant on Thursday.
Redskins split: Belding split with Cedar Springs in an O-K Blue doubleheader on Tuesday. The Redskins won game one 4-2, but lost game two 12-6. Kyleigh Linebaugh earned the win in game one. She allowed five hits and two earned runs with six strikeouts. Linebaugh had three hits. Mindy Reminga had two hits and an RBI. Mariah Heintzelmen had three hits and an RBI in game two. Central Montcalm 2nd: The Hornets shot 328 to place second behind Big Rapids’ 315 at the CSAA jamboree at Bowen Lake Golf Course on Tuesday. Lakeview was third with 375. Ryan Michalek led the Hornets with a 79. Tyler Sleet shot 81, Tyler Johnson 84 and Ben Gladding each shot 84. Quote: “We played pretty solid tee to green. Wildcats 3rd: Lakeview had a good afternoon at the CSAA jamboree hosted by Central Montcalm on Tuesday at Bowen Lake Golf Course. The Wildcats placed third with a 375. Big Rapids placed first with 315 and Central Montcalm was second with 328. Jon Wandel was third individually with a 76. RK Boomer shot 92, Nate Nelson 99 and Jon King a 108.
