Lakeview sweeps: The Wildcats took both games (15-0 and 17-7) of a CSAA doubleheader from Big Rapids on Friday. Erin Vanderzand earned the win in both games. In game one, Liz Nielsen, Sheena Norton and Vanderzand each had two hits. Neilsen had four RBIs and Norton three RBIs. In game two, Chelsea Lint and Nielsen each had three hits. Vanderzand and Keelie Outman had two hits apiece. Nielsen had five more RBIs and Vanderzand drove in three runs. Each player in both games had at least one hit for the Wildcats. Records: 14-9 (8-6). Montabella 0-2: The Mustangs lost a pair of MSAC games on Thursday night to the Coleman Comets. The Comets won game one 17-5. Cheyann Frasle suffered the loss. Only three runs were earned as the Mustangs made 12 errors in the game. Kayla LaCroix had two hits and an RBI. Game two went to Coleman 17-13. Emily Lint took the loss with just two of the runs being earned on eight errors. Montabella did have 13 hits in the loss. Lint, Sarah Ranney and Mariah Davidson each had three hits. Lint, Ranney and Taylor Hutson each had two RBIs. Records: 6-20 (4-7). Next: at home against Central Montcalm Monday.
TC West tops TC: The Vikings fell to Traverse City West 6-2 on Friday. Cody Dines took the loss. He pitched six innings, allowing three earned runs and 12 hits. Five Vikings had one hit each. Record: 11-12. Next: today at the Aquinas Invitational.
CM swept: The Hornets fell twice on Friday to Chippewa Hills in CSAA play. The Warriors won game one 11-1 and the nightcap 6-5 in nine innings. Tyler Peterman took the loss in the first game. Hunter Myers and Forest Bartz each went 2-for-2. Micah Parr suffered the loss in game two. Myers had three more hits and Bartz two more. Records: 4-12 (2-8). Next: at Montabella Monday.
Oakridge 4, Lakeview 1: The Wildcats fell on the road Friday in a nonconference game to Muskegon Oakridge. Ally Reed scored the lone Lakeview goal on a penalty kick. Danielle Grant made four saves. Next: at Fremont Providence Christian Tuesday.
CM shoots 332: The Hornets shot 332 to finish fourth at the Ithaca Invitational on Friday afternoon. Ithaca was first with a 309, followed by Alma 316 and DeWitt with 320. Jared Cilibraise shot 79 to lead the Hornets and place 7th overall. Tyler Sleet was 12th overall with 82 and Ryan Michelak was 20th with an 85. Tyler Johnson added an 86. Next: at Big Rapids Invitational on Tuesday.
Lakeview shoots 389: The Wildcats fired a 389 at the Ithaca Invitational on Friday. RK Boomer, Brock Kanous and Jon King each shot 97s while Kameron Gilbert shot 98. Ithaca won with 309. Next: at home for a CSAA jamboree on Wednesday.
