Tri County 11, Buckley 6: The Vikings went to Buckley and won a single game Friday. Christian Johnson went five innings and allowed nine hits while striking out six for the win. Cody Smits and Cody Dines had two hits each for Tri County. Record: 14-13. Next: at the Traverse City West tournament today

Soccer

Lakeview 2, Grant 0: The Wildcats got two unassisted goals from Ally Reed – her 21st and 22nd of the season – to beat the Tigers Friday. Danielle Grant made 12 saves in goal for the shutout. Quote: “Overall the girls played well. The defense really helped cover for each other.” – Lakeview coach Chris Smith. Record: 8-5-3. Next: at home Tuesday against Ithaca.

Greenville 4, Sparta 0: The Yellow Jackets shut out the Spartans in a non-conference match Friday night. Allysen Neumann had three of the four goals and Megan O’Brien had a goal and an assist for Greenville. Quote: “Allysen is a tremendous player. She made a couple of really nice individual plays.” – Greenville coach Nathan Lewis. Record: 8-7-1. Next: at home Monday against Lowell.

Golf

Butternut 169, Lakeview 197: The Butternut Homeschoolers took on the Wildcats at Brookside Golf and Grill Friday and came away with another win. Butternut’s scorers were David Crouse with a 38, Isaac Crouse with a 41, Caleb Wyman with a 42 and Isaiah Wyman with a 47. Lakeview got 47s from R.K. Boomer and Kameron Gilbert, a 48 from Brock Kanouse and a 55 from Jordan Lake. Next: Lakeview is at the Big Rapids Invitational Monday.
