Tri County 1-1: The Vikings split a pair of Lakes 8 Conference games with the Fremont Packers Tuesday, losing the first 5-3 but winning the second in five innings 15-4. Cody Dines was the losing pitcher in the opener, going all six innings and allowing eight hits with three strikeouts and two walks. Brandon Peterman two hits game one, then pitched a complete-game four-hitter for the win in game two. He struck out six. Tyler Burns and Cody Smits had four hits each and Dines and Cody Mitz added two hits each. Records: 15-16 and 8-5. Next: at Morley Stanwood today.
Lakeview 8, Ithaca 1: Ally Reed continued her hot scoring for the Wildcats, scoring six of the eight goals in the rout of the Yellowjackets Tuesday. Megan Leach and Alex Gregory also had goals for Lakeview. Danelle Wood had two assists and Gregory, Serena Johnson, Katie Johnson and Cecilia Bayne added assists. Goalkeeper Danielle Grant made just two saves in the win. Record: 9-5-3. Next: at Tri County today.
Greenville scores medals: The Yellow Jackets had every girl they took to the West Michigan Meet of Champions get a medal at the meet Tuesday. Rosalyn Wyse had three medals, winning the 300-meter hurdles (46.15) and finishing fifth in the high jump (4-10) and was on the winning 800-meter relay team (1:47.8). Audrey Wyse, Taylor Baker and Taylor Christensen added two medals each for Greenville. Next: at the Ovid-Elsie JV meet Thursday.
CM 2nd, Lakeview 5th: The Hornets finished second behind Big Rapids at the CSAA tournament on Tuesday at Cedar Chase Golf Course. Central Montcalm shot 361 while Lakeview shot 430. Ben Gladding led the Hornets with 85. Ryan Michalek shot 88, Tyler Sleet 93 and Jared Cilibraise 95. Michaleck earned all-conference honors. Sleet, Gladding and Cilibraise were second team selections while Tyler Johnson earned an honorable mention. Jon Wandel led Lakeview with 95. Brock Kanouse shot 110, Kameron Gilbert 110 and Nate Nelson 114. Wandel was named second team all-conference.
